Announcing ConcertGoer!

From the developer of Radar In Motion comes ConcertGoer, an Apple Mac OS X Dashboard widget designed for the person who loves to go to concerts.  The widget retrieves concert data from PollStar and provides it for you in an easy-to-read format.  You can mark which shows you are going to and also see the shows for only your favorite artists!  Version 1.0 is now available.  Enjoy!

Hey, like the widget! However, it is obscenely large, even on my 22 inch monitor. Are you planning on making a “mini” version or at least making it resizable? Thanks!

  2. Kamal Says:

‘Tis a possibility. The problem is that shrinking the widget too much means the data ends up scrolling to multiple lines, making it very hard to read. Might consider a “mini” mode at some point that shows less information and therefore takes up less space.

Hi, looks like a great idea, but I find no listings for Europe! :-( - and Pollstar does list concerts in Europe, don’t they?

I tried Dijon, France; Paris, France; and the more general Europe; but your widget erroneously tells me my location is “invalid” … (Have you Seen GATTACA? Strongly Recommended Movie!).

Anyway, you’ve got my email, any chance you’ll drop me a note when you go global?

    Thanks!

  4. Kamal Says:

It does work for European locations, actually. You just have to use the proper country code. Note that going to pollstar.com and typing in “Paris, France” will not work. You actually have to type “Paris, FRA” The interface is a bit quirky, I agree, but unfortunately I am limited by the interface pollstar has. Eventually, I might add some capability to automatically translate country names, but until then, you just have to type the correct two or three-letter country codes.

Am i the only one having trouble changing the city?

also can you add the version number somewhere so people know when there is a new or updated one….

    Thanks…

ps great job on radar in motion..It is the BEST widget!!!

Kamal, I like the widget, but I was wondering how long it takes to load? I have had the application open for quite some time and it still has not loaded. Any ideas?

  7. Todd Says:

The first time I used it, it worked, after that it froze in a loading mode. Ive tried to uninstall but it is always frozen, what do i do, it is very cool when working?

  8. Lauren Says:

My widget has just been saying loading for a couple of days now. Any idea what is going on?

  9. mike dye Says:

Great idea but loads endlessly, maybe OS 10.5 only? I’m running 10.4.11.

  10. Brian Says:

Thanks Kamal, I like the idea and it worked nicely for a couple days, but I started having the freeze issue the others mentioned. Right now it isn’t working at all. I think the problem may have started after I loaded the most recent version of OS X (7.7.1). I’ve started having problems with a couple other widgets too.

  11. Martin Says:

I really like this widget, but, like many other of these posts, my widget hasn’t been loading either… what can we do?

  12. Brian Says:

Oops! In my previous comment, I gave the wrong version of OS X that I had downloaded. The recent OS X download was 10.5.4. (I think the 7.7.1 was for the recent iTunes download).

Unfortunately, the widget has been completely frozen for quite awhile.

I liked it when it worked.

  13. Dana Says:

Mine has said LOADING for weeks now…. I re-installed several times, but it only worked once. When it did work, it was awesome

  14. Dana Says:

Mine is frozen in “loading” as well…. I’ve deleted and re-downloaded several to no avail. Help! This was really cool when it worked.

  15. Leah Says:

Yeah, mine has the same problem as Lauren’s. What’s up?

  16. erik Says:

I love the concertgoer, works great. A couple critiques:
1/the widget is to large as mentioned above and could be more customizable…
2/when marked “i’m going” and you use different towns, the list of “i’m going” shows is not in chronological order….possible to have ordered by date?
3/Lastly, and probably much more complicated, but it would be great if these “i’m going” dates could be synced with a local calender (outlook calender or mac calender)
Anyways, I love it how it is and if you want to improve it, those are a few of my recommendations. Thanks for your hard work!

I am in love with this widget, however it has been suck on the loading screen for like two days straight and the only thing i can do is add favorite artists. even refreshing the page doesnt work. is there a way i can get it working smoothly again? and im glad im not the only one with this problem either, i thought I was doing something wrong!

  18. Jessica Says:

Love the widget, but I have the same loading problem. It worked for me before on this computer I think–version 10.5 whatever whatever. Is there a way to make it work?

  19. David Rivers Says:

Cool widget, man! It would be awesome if you could make this thing talk to Last.fm so it could auto-add my Library and I wouldn’t have to manually tell the widget which artists I want to track (as my “favorites”), or I could their Last.fm tags like “jazz” or “underground hip-hop” so I know I’ll only get data from artists I’ll like. Anyway, keep up the good work!
